22-inch on the Cayenne – this is how it looks

Porsche gives you a lot of freedom when designing your Cayenne. You can choose between rims in 19", 20", 21" and 22". Which size suits your Cayenne 9YA best depends on your personal priorities. To make a safe purchase decision, it is important to know the characteristics of the different sizes.

Smaller rims are suitable for all seasons. In winter, they have a special advantage: on slushy or snowy roads they provide good grip and are less prone to damage. Even in summer, smaller sizes 19 and 20 inch impress, particularly with their better suspension. The resulting comfort, however, comes at the expense of the vehicle’s overall appearance – a matter of taste.

Larger rims for your Cayenne 9YA, your Cayenne 9YA II or other models emphasise the exceptional design of this luxury car. The tyres sit tighter on the rim, which improves cornering behaviour. Summer is therefore the best time to showcase them. However, note the slightly lower comfort. In winter, you can also drive with large Porsche Cayenne rims in 22" or 21". If you want to keep the Porsche Approved guarantee, you should only use 21" in winter, since Porsche has not released 22" for winter use. You can drive them in the cold season, but without warranty claims.

The part number: proof of original rims

Buying Porsche Cayenne 22-inch rims is a bigger investment. All the more important to be sure of authenticity. A clear indication of original rims is the part number, which enables unambiguous assignment to the manufacturer. Together with a triangle and a “P”, it is engraved on the inside of the rim and also noted on a sticker.

The sticker also provides details about rim dimensions, design and coating. Next to it, the production date is laser-engraved. When buying complete wheels for your Porsche Cayenne, you must first remove the tyre to see the part number. In our shop, the alphanumeric part number can be found on the product page under “Rim details”.

A real eye-catcher in summer: 22-inch rims

Do you want to stylishly showcase your powerhouse on the road in the sunny season? Then your choice can only be original-quality Porsche Cayenne 22-inch rims. Their wide design gives them a dynamic, distinctive and unmistakable look. Rims of this size visually complete your Cayenne and guarantee admiring glances.

It is not just the unique aesthetics that make 22" rims an upgrade for Cayenne 955/957, 9YA or 9YB. They also provide high stability on dry roads and more precise steering. If you enjoy fast driving in summer, large rims are ideal. In principle, you can also use them in winter, provided you are willing to forgo the Porsche Approved guarantee.

Accessories for the new Cayenne rims

One click is enough to add the accessory to your order.

In detail: rim and tyre dimensions

At first glance, the designations for rim and tyre sizes may look cryptic. With a little background knowledge, however, they are easy to decode. Below we explain what each parameter means.

Example of a rim size: 10J x 22 ET48

  • The first number indicates the rim width in inches, here 10".
  • The letter J refers to the rim flange design for passenger cars.
  • After the x comes the rim diameter in inches, here 22".
  • ET stands for offset – the distance between the wheel centre and the inner mounting surface of the rim.
  • Following ET is the offset in millimetres, in this case 48 mm.

If you order your Porsche Cayenne 22" rims as complete wheels, the tyre size is also listed on the product page. It is composed as follows:

Example of a tyre size: 285/35 R22 106V N0

  • The first number indicates the tyre width, here 285 millimetres.
  • After the slash comes the percentage ratio of tyre height to tyre width, here 35%.
  • R stands for radial construction.
  • The number after R gives the rim diameter in inches, here 22".
  • The four-character code indicates the load index and speed index. 106 means 950 kg per tyre (load index). The letter V indicates a maximum permitted speed of 240 km/h (speed index).
  • N0 is Porsche’s tyre designation for the Cayenne 9YA, also called the N-marking.

On the product pages, the dimensions are listed separately for the front axle (VA) and the rear axle (HA). For complete wheels in 22" with winter tyres, there is no N-marking, as Porsche has not approved this size for winter use.

Mixed tyres with 22" Cayenne rims

In a mixed tyre setup, the rear axle is fitted with wider tyres than the front. During acceleration this improves grip thanks to the larger contact area. In fast cornering, mixed tyres can improve stability. Combined with Porsche Cayenne Turbo 22" rims, this ensures safe driving even at high speeds – without compromising on looks. The same applies to comparable high-performance sports models.

All about the tyre

From the Cayenne 9YA to the Cayenne 958 or 9YB – Porsche places great importance on a perfect match between rim and tyre. What this means in connection with Porsche Cayenne 22-inch rims is explained below.

Porsche Approved guarantee

If your Cayenne is still covered by the Porsche Approved guarantee, you may only use 22" rims in summer. In winter you would lose your warranty, since Porsche has not approved this rim size for winter driving.

The “N-marking”

With the exclusive N-marking, Porsche designates tyres that meet the highest quality standards. The tyre designation for the Cayenne 9YA is N0. On complete wheels with winter tyres, it is not present, as winter approval is lacking for this size.

Typical tyre brands

To ensure perfect coordination between wheel and tyre, Porsche works with established manufacturers. Winter tyres are mainly supplied by Pirelli, while summer models from Japanese premium brands Yokohama and Bridgestone are also used.
