Which rims you equip your Porsche Cayenne with is up to you. The range includes sizes between 19 inch and 22 inch. Both the smaller and larger versions have characteristic features you should consider in your decision.
The smaller rims can be used all year round on the Cayenne 9YA or other models. In summer and winter they offer excellent grip and high comfort on any route. The latter is due to the tyre height, which is higher compared to larger rims, providing better cushioning. However, the look of smaller rims is not to everyone’s taste.
Original Porsche Cayenne rims in 21 inch or 22 inch are characterised by a striking, powerful appearance. This comes into its own particularly in summer. In fast cornering with the Cayenne 9YA II, 9YA or 958, large rims also provide more stability. You can also enjoy this special feeling in the winter months. Note, however, that the Porsche Approved guarantee does not apply to winter driving with 22 inch. Also important: in terms of comfort, large rims cannot quite match the smaller versions.
The part number: proof of original rims

On the rim itself you will find the alphanumeric code on the inside, along with a triangle featuring a “P” in the middle. The part number is an identification number assigned by Porsche, factory-engraved on the rim. A well-informed purchase decision begins with valuable knowledge of the product. Below we break down the size markings of rims so you can correctly interpret the individual parameters.
Example rim size: 9.5J x 21 ET46
- The first figure indicates the rim width in inches. In this example, 9.5 inches.
- J shows that it is a rim flange design for passenger cars.
- After x comes the rim diameter in inches, here 21 inches.
- ET stands for offset – the distance between the inner mounting surface of the rim and the wheel centre.
- The figure after ET indicates the offset in millimetres – here 46 mm.

Example tyre size: 275/40 R21 107V N0
- The number before the slash indicates the tyre width in millimetres – here 275 mm.
- After the slash comes the ratio of tyre height to width in percent – in this example 40%.
- R21 indicates radial construction and a rim diameter of 21 inches.
- The four-character code specifies the load index and speed index of the tyre. 107 stands for a load of 975 kg per tyre (load index). “V” indicates a maximum permitted speed of 240 km/h (speed index).
- N0 is Porsche’s tyre marking – for the Cayenne 9YA it indicates repeatedly tested quality.

Mixed tyres with 21-inch Cayenne rims
Mixed tyres are when the tyres on the rear and front axles are different. The rear tyres are usually wider than the front. This combination can have a positive effect on handling and stability at high speeds – especially on demanding routes. For high-performance SUV versions this is extremely advantageous. The “N-marking”

Summer tyres typically come from Bridgestone, Pirelli and Yokohama. In winter, besides Pirelli, models from Continental and Michelin are mainly used.
